A stoneware ceramic dish on a hand-dyed and sewn fabric cushion with a removable incense holder. Handcrafted by Rachel Sellem, an Amsterdam-based ceramicist.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Rachel creates her own plant dyes from aromatic herbs and edible flowers grown locally. This cushion is dyed with turmeric to create the sunshine yellow colour.
We love these bowls because you can use them in so many ways - pair with our incense sticks, or take out and use the bowl to hold jewellery, flowers, tea, snacks or keys.
Rachel made the cushions as a way of embracing the ceramic bowls - resulting in an eye-catching juxtaposition of textures and colours, and a beautiful and unique work of art that will bring joy to your home.
About Rachel
Rachel Sellem grew up in a family of makers - artists, musicians, knitters, gardeners, tailors, shoemakers and chefs so making has always come naturally to her. She began experimenting with ceramics whilst studying Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy but she describes her practice as continually evolving -Β in time everything got interwoven, and is still being woven. Rachel lives and works in Amsterdam. She runs pottery classes and curates pop ups with Komok (where we first discovered Rachel's work!)Β @rachelsellem
